The seminar will expand on concepts already clarified in The Basics and will approach dramaturgy from two perspectives: – as a form of conditional thinking; – as a way to build appropriate contexts.
Conditional thinking is used when we ask questions relevant to the probability of some events to occur inside a (fictional) space. The fictional space itself, being the result of representation, is the probable result of estimation and averaging. A relevant question will broaden the context against which it was asked. But the decision about how much we enlarge the context and how meticulously we enumerate the outcomes is dictated by the limited time span of any time-based art form: dramaturgy comes out as a tool to organize this time meaningfully.
